Reading Roundup: “Who I Am With You”

Summary:

“Who I Am With You” is the debut novel of the Legacy of Faith Series by Robin Lee Hatcher.  This story surrounds the modern life of Jessica and Ridley, as well as the former life of Jessica’s great-grandfather.  Jessica Mason has just experienced a horrific tragedy in her life.  As horrible as this is, the knowledge that she carries in the aftermath threatens to leave her withdrawn and alone.

Ridley Chesterfield has chosen to hide away in Hope Springs, Idaho, to avoid the scandal that has become his life.  While hiding away, he meets his new neighbor, Jessica.  The two are both trying to avoid a relationship but find that the secrets they hide are bringing them closer together.

Jessica finds comfort in the words of her great-grandfather and his bible.  The passages he has underlined, and the words written in the margins provide her with the wisdom, courage, and strength that she needs.  As we learn about his story during the Great Depression we see that some issues cross all time spans, and when we allow God to help us, there is nothing that can’t be done.

My Thoughts:

This book was an amazing read.  I typically do not like books that time jump, or have any type of historical component, but this one is the exception to that.  The story lines were well developed.  My only criticism is that I felt as if the ending was a bit rushed, but only because I wanted more.  Anytime an author leaves me wanting more, it shows me that they have done their job. I didn’t want the story to end.  I can’t wait to read the next story in the series.  This book receives four stars.
